Comprehensive Interior Design
This large-scale dual occupancy interior design project in Sydney has given Helen the opportunity to be involved from the ground up. Comprising two residences, each with basement, ground, and first-floor levels, the project required a cohesive interior design scheme that would complement the architectural vision while ensuring functionality, elegance, and flow.
Working in close collaboration with the architect and builder, Helen has played a pivotal role in developing the overall interior design direction and assisted in assembling a talented creative team of professionals.
Project Scope & Stages
Initial Concept & Design Development
- Design meetings with the architect, builder and client
- Presenting mood boards and material samples to establish overall style and design direction
- Interior design documentation showing initial interior planning of spaces
Detailed Design Phase
- Kitchens, bathrooms, laundries, fireplaces, wardrobes, wine cellar, basement layouts, and lift specifications
- Exterior selections: bricks, roof tiles, windows and doors, balustrading, exterior paint palette, pool tiles etc
- Tile and grout markups, flooring material layouts and door hardware specified
Team Management & Coordination
- Led collaboration across the project team
- Scheduled and chaired client design team meetings, providing agendas and minutes throughout the pre-production phase
- Oversaw administration, scheduling, and coordination to ensure smooth communication
Cabinetry & Detailing
- Reviewed and approved all cabinet maker shop drawings
- Specified all cabinetry, handles and door hardware
- Attended regular site visits with the builder and clients to check all design specifications
- Double checked all specification lists and orders with the builder, clients and suppliers for kitchens and bathroom appliances, fittings and fixtures, ensuring every specific product arrived on site
Sourcing & Specifications
- Sourced and specified exterior design elements – Front doors and hardware, garage doors, letterbox designÂ
- Worked alongside the lighting designer to incorporate all lighting specifics into cabinetryÂ
- Collaborated with the creative team to refine material selections to be cohesive and flow
A Collaborative Design Journey
Just completion in March 2026, this dual occupancy new build represents a significant and exciting project in Helen’s portfolio. Her role has been both creative and organisational – balancing the design vision with detailed specifications and team management to ensure the final homes will be both functional and timeless.
