With over 25 years of design experience, Helen Baumann is a qualified Interior Designer and Certified Kitchen Designer recognised for her creativity, industry expertise and commitment to timeless, functional design.
Helen is proud to be a finalist in the 2026 KBDi Design Awards in three prestigious categories:
- KBDi Kitchens Plus NSW
- KBDi Design Spaces, Residential (NSW)
- KBDi Certified Designer of the Year
These latest finalist honours build on Helen’s long history of industry recognition. In 2022, she was awarded the KBDi Kitchen Designer of the Year (NSW) and the highly coveted KBDi Australian Certified Designer of the Year. She was also invited to be a KBDi Designer Awards Judge in 2023 and has previously been a finalist in the 2016 Medium NSW Kitchen Design and 2019 Large NSW Kitchen Design categories. Helen’s passion for exceptional design was first recognised when she received the Outstanding Kitchen Design Student of the Year award in 2012.
Helen’s creative flair began in the Design Department at ABC TV, where she worked on a range of successful productions including Brides of Christ, The True Believers, Enough Rope and The Chaser Decides (formerly Election Chaser). She later became the Set Designer for the popular children’s television program Giggle and Hoot from 2011 to 2016, earning the prestigious Silver Promax BDA Global Excellence Award for set design.
Helen’s career has also encompassed art direction, set design and graphic design for leading entertainment companies including Warner Bros., Southern Star and Fox Australia. Her portfolio includes productions such as Jack and Sarah (UK), Oscar and Lucinda (Australia) and Red Planet (US).
Following her passion for interior design, and inspired by her love of cooking and entertaining, Helen chose to specialise in kitchen design. She began her career as a showroom consultant for Sydney Kitchens while completing her qualifications as a Certified Kitchen Designer.
Helen approaches every project by first understanding how her clients live, entertain and use their space. By taking the time to understand their ideas, needs and lifestyle, she creates thoughtful, personalised interiors that are both beautiful and practical. Every project begins with a detailed design brief, followed by comprehensive plans and realistic 3D visualisations that allow clients to explore materials, finishes and appliances before construction begins. Clients can use these plans to obtain builder quotations or engage Helen to assist throughout the process.
